Course Title: Outdoor Education: Year 10

September 2010 – July 2011

Provider: St James School

Day(s) course offered: Friday

Course Description: This course will develop your personal skills through Outdoor Education. You will experience a range of outdoor pursuit activities and, together with activity skills, you will build your self-esteem, determination, confidence, self-reliance, leadership, communication and teamwork, responsibility, and awareness of self and others.

You will develop skills in rock climbing, canoeing, kayaking, mountain biking, surfing, bush craft, orienteering, navigation and others. The course will be very physically and mentally demanding and you will be developing skills through being in tough and demanding situations.

Although there will be practical activities every week, there will be a small amount of written work in most sessions. This will go towards developing a portfolio to show evidence of the skills that you are learning. Be prepared to go out in all weathers, bring plenty of warm clothing and boots if you have them, and expect to get wet!
