COURSE DETAILS FOR PERSONAL DEVELPMENT

September 2010 – May 2011

Provider...Devon Youth Service - Exeter

Day(s) course offered:  Any Through Negotiation

Course Description:

So what do you want to do with your life?
It’s a big question but if you don’t know, that’s ok.  This course offers you the chance to explore you; and everything about you.  You may find out things you didn’t know about yourself and find you have skills you’ve never used.

If you are interested in learning about different things to those at school and in a way that is less like being at school, then this course can be for you.  Instead of teachers you have Youth Workers and you go to a Youth Centre instead of a school.

We can help you learn to communicate better with those around you, how to work better with others, how to deal with difficult situations better and how to organise yourself for when you leave school.  All of these skills are useful for when you get a job and want to start earning some money.

We do this through team building games, art, music, discussion, workshops, outdoor activities, volunteering in the community and sport.  You will have to put things onto paper, but not a massive amount and as with anything in life, there is usually some form of writing involved.

So come on, come and change how you feel about yourself and the world.

Quotes from previous students on this course:

”its really weird I would never talk about myself before I came here!!”
“ive learnt some really good skills that will help me get a job”
“If I don’t like something I know now how to at least try before saying I hate it!!”
